City Girl

August 23, 2016

I have always been a city kind of girl. I love its lights, infrastructures, busyness, and motions. Basically, I love its mess. I find peace and serenity on tranquil places like the countryside (don’t get me wrong, I actually like it there, too) but in the middle of the havoc in the cities, it feels like I can camouflage and hide under an invisibility cloak and actually find peace in myself. In simple terms, I am the kind of person who finds herself lost in a havoc and still loves being there.

Now, this is not a literary article like the ones I usually make. This is a blog post on fashion. I’d only just like to remind you, my lovely readers, to get lost like I do in cities. Fashion is sometimes like that. There are too many trends to follow and styles to imitate and sometimes, you may lose yourself in them. But at the end of the day, it’s what you are that matters. It’s who you want to be and how you want to portray yourself to the world. It’s a way of expressing yourself without even the risk of saying the wrong words and doing the wrong things.

Fashion is how you get lost in it. How you handle all those clothes and mix and match them to make them look better than they did if you only merely wore them. How you take in all those trends and make something original and something YOU out of them.

And fashion is also how you find yourself in them. How you dress the way you want to. How you don’t care so much of what anybody thinks of you but only what you think of yourself.

Because in the end, you decide for yourself. You dress for yourself. You go through life for yourself.
So in experimenting how I would want to dress, I decided that I’m more on the classy side than the trendy side. I like wearing monochromatic colors, usually in the shades of black, white, gray, and nude. That’s how I want to be.

Speaking of, here’s an #ootd of me wearing this adorable Aeropostale dress in the shade of pink, a gift from my cousin, pairing it with my favorite (obviously) Parisian sandals. Thank you for reading!

How about you? How do you want to portray yourself to the world, specifically in the world of fashion? Trendy or classy? Chic or boho? Sporty or girly? Comment below and let me know!
